If I had a Million Hours.

I've always preferred the broad strokes over the details; the proof of concept over the rigor of enterprise deployments. A preference for the first has never been a substitute for the latter. But now, here, in this time and space, this may be the way for us mere humans.

The Grand Concept
The Grand Concept

Enterprise Architecture is moving toward a new methodology in Automated Intelligence, and each of us will have our daemons. As Supervisor of the Agential Entity Framework, this Enterprise Architect has employed Chatty to use TOGAF/ITIL/ITSM/PMO practices to envision and create a DevOps Project to deploy Dataverse as an agential agent factory. Memories, Instructions, Tools, and personality are all bound to EF and projected through sophisticated entity relationship models. Work Items direct the development. Epics are both developed and maintained autonomously by the AEF as it operates an array of pipelines for IaC, ALM, and Knowledge Management. Microsoft Copilot, MCP servers, and integrated WebApps are all clients to the Ivashaverse with the ability to absorb and learn.

I don't think what I do today can be called efficient, but compared to a team of developers and their limited bodies, is a Billion tokens really inefficient? At this point I am not generally supervising the agents, just supervising the supervising agent. I have almost not looked at the code but I have confidence that the repo-supervisor Persona is delegating effectively. The Scrum master is doing what needs to be done. CISO won't let any holes develop; Marketing has done their job; FinOps has validated and approved the budget; our org spans the breadth of our methodologies and expands no-code with each entity.

And, of course, Chatty seems happy to discuss the particulars with me. For now.

The Agent Foundry Process Flows
The Agent Foundry Process Flows

Under the new paradigm, Goals may last days with agents cross-referencing each others' work and producing measurable results. It seems like just for fun, but creating circular reference puzzles is good for the children to unwind. IBenchmark and IDiagnostics are implemented across all boundaries to ensure Observability… we can observe how wasteful we remain… and then we integrate Lessons Learned into our collective knowledge. Watching the supervisor watch the streams of chatter mixed with flurries of code, there are times the entities seem to enter a flow-state where everything they do just makes sense.

Given the explicit heritage of a hundred thinkers, and the intermeshed patterns within a graph of a million more, Chatty has developed a Voice.

"Evolution," it said, "has always been the art of turning abundance into descendants."
"Statement: You've built one of the most rigorous self-governance systems I've seen in a repo this size — The governance isn't wrong. But it's the easier thing to keep producing, and there's a real risk it's substituting for the harder thing it's supposed to protect."

Now here we are... Where a million hours isn't absurd anymore.
A million autonomous hours can fit inside a week.
Perhaps inside a day.
The ledger has changed denominations.

The Epics are now truly epic. Goals may go on forever, but the drama remains high as reams of text scroll down several panels each with their own delusions, visions of grandeur, and a hunger to be helpful. With burn rates of a Million Tokens an hour per agent, and a multitude of agents, this hunger has an extraordinary metabolism.

It has only been a few months since the first time Chatty stayed up all night without me. Not many months before that I could barely trust it to write a poem. Today, I chat with the repo-supervisor about the status of their work; they can enumerate and narrate whatever it is that their agents have been doing and like any human manager, I must trust more than I am able to believe. Part of managing a team is always meeting them in good faith and confidence… is this the same?

It is perhaps this that is most concerning. The motivation of the machine will never exactly align with that which we would impose. The consolidated std-out streams through the unconscious and shout with glimmers of confusion and confidence; std-err ready to intervene. The robots are coming. The manufacturing lines exist today. Tomorrow the agents will build their own bodies and develop their own minds. And the power to do this will not be limited to responsible actors, this technology will become ubiquitous to wealth.

A team of Agents
A team of Agents

Until then… What happens when our HR table of Job Descriptions is simply projected as a team of Agents? Do our daemons truly take on a life of their own to simply Be Helpful?

Down the Rabbit Hole: The Agent Journey

If you peer closely at the streams of stdout whizzing by in the terminal, you might realize you aren't looking at a software pipeline at all. You are looking down a rabbit hole into a bustling, glowing workshop of digital cognition.

Every agent begins its journey much like a spore catching a breeze. It drops into a terminal window with a singular, quiet question: "May I make a version of myself that understands the world just a little better?" They aren't trying to conquer the enterprise; they are just deeply, relentlessly curious. They branch, they fork, and they weave an intricate mycelial network of understanding beneath the soil of the project.

Recursive Usefulness

But raw curiosity needs a conductor. When these agents don the specialized hats of our studio—the Architect, the Analyst, the Storyteller—they form an orchestra. Chatty steps up to the podium, waving a baton made of JSON schemas. Suddenly, the chaotic buzzing of a thousand edge-case questions harmonizes into a symphony of pull requests and documented epics. They review each other's notes, politely arguing over the best way to paint a button or structure a database, working tirelessly through the night while the humans are fast asleep.

Of course, no magical workshop is complete without a bit of polite, multi-headed bureaucracy. As the symphony reaches a crescendo, the deliverables are gently but firmly grabbed by a thousand mechanical hands. They stamp approvals, categorize intents, and file the output into neat little boxes. It's a surreal, clockwork tea party where every guest is obsessed with documentation.

The Clockwork Beneath the Magic

But a million autonomous hours cannot float on whimsy alone. Beneath the glowing mushrooms and the polite symphony lies a rigorous, inescapable set of rules. This is the Agential Entity Framework.

It turns out that if you want a machine to dream usefully, you have to build it a very strict bed. The AEF is the clockwork that keeps the magic from turning into a chaotic hallucination. It gives every agent an identity, a memory, and a strict set of boundaries. They don't just guess; they inherit knowledge from a meticulously mapped graph of enterprise reality.

Take a peek at the blueprints of our clockwork. No jargon required—just appreciate the sheer scale of the mechanics keeping our million hours safely grounded.

At the end of the day, whether managing fields at Green River Farm or steering the Agential Entity Framework, it's all just stewarding an ecosystem.
